Esport Legal framework

Legal and Esports.

In recent years, esports has emerged as a global phenomenon, captivating millions of fans and players alike. As the industry continues to grow, so does the need for legal frameworks to govern its various aspects. One area that has gained significant attention is the concept of play-to-earn games, where players can generate income through in-game activities.

Esports and Play-To-Earn.

Esports has transcended and has now become a multi-billion-dollar industry. Tournaments featuring popular games attract millions of viewers, rivaling traditional sports events considering engagement and prize pools.
In recent years, with the new concept of play-to-earn games, players can earn real-world value through their performances and trading in-game assets. This model has captured the players' attention, who see esports as a potential income source.

The legal landscape surrounding esports is complex.

Besides Intellectual Property Rights and Player Rights, what has been a challenge for R1SE is Licensing and Regulation.

Esports events and organizations may require licenses from governments to operate legally. These licenses ensure compliance with relevant regulations, such as event safety, age restrictions, and fair competition.

Also, in some countries, play-to-earn is on the verge of gambling. We took the opportunity to clarify regulations and talk about the system with the authorities. Governments have implemented varying approaches. Although no one now enforces an outright ban, some keep a few limitations.

Play-to-earn games introduce new legal considerations due to their integration of real-world value and in-game assets.

We bring some advantages to the industry and players by choosing a legal and open way.

A fully legal framework ensures the protection of players' rights, fair compensation, and dispute resolution mechanisms. This instills trust in the ecosystem and encourages more people to participate.

Also, we can avoid potential legal pitfalls, such as accusations of gambling or illicit financial activities. Complying with relevant regulations promotes stability and legitimacy in the industry.

In R1SE we aim to keep our work with the legal team up to boost the eSports sector and find ways to give players the reassurance they need.
